Anchor Brewing halting operations after 127 years citing faltering sales, tough economic conditions SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco’s 127-year-old Anchor Brewing Co. will shut down after years of declining sales, citing tough economic conditions. “We recognize the importance and historic significance of Anchor to San Francisco and to the craft brewing industry, but the impacts of the pandemic, inflation, especially in San Francisco, and a highly competitive market left the company with no option but to make this sad decision to cease operations,” spokesperson Sam Singer said in a written statement Wednesday. Anchor said that it made repeated efforts over the past year to find buyers for the brewery and its brands, but that it was unable to find one. The company said that it is still possible that a buyer will come forward as part of the liquidation process. Anchor recently announced that it would limit sales of its beers to California and that it would cut production of its Anchor Christmas Ale, a popular beer in many parts of the country, in an effort to cut costs.The company ...

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On May 1, 2021, Austin voters approved Proposition B, making it a criminal offense for anyone to sit, lie down or camp in public areas. On the afternoon of July 8, Forest Rangers responded to and located an injured hiker on Cascade Mountain. The hiker sustained an unstable ankle injury. Shortly after 1 p.m. on July 9, Forest Rangers were notified of a 13-year-old in anaphylactic shock on the Four Corners trail in the Eastern High Peaks. NYSP Aviation assistance was requested. LOUIS - Starting Tuesday afternoon, it began to look more and more likely that Wednesday morning storms would stay just north of the St. Louis region, impacting northern Missouri and west-central Illinois. That means we are in store for a hot, more humid day with temperature highs in the mid 90s.  The cold front dropping south will bring strong to severe storms to the St. Louis region starting late Wednesday afternoon and continuing through the evening. Storms could produce large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Mother shot while holding baby; St. Louis County man charged ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A St. Louis County man is accused of shooting a mother while she held her baby earlier this month. Prosecutors have charged Deondre Powell, 29, with one count of armed criminal action, domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child. 3 killed, several injured in Greyhound bus crash According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, a witness told police that Powell pull out a firearm and shot the mother of his child in the face. This reportedly happened on July 1 in a north St. Louis County hotel complex on Hanley Road. The mother was holding a child, who was less than one month old, in her hands when Powell allegedly shot her.Investigators did not disclose a potential motive in relation to the shooting.
