Ashton Kutcher reminded of testimony in Los Altos woman’s murder by Danny Masterson accuser

The fall-out continues over Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ defense of Danny Masterson, along with outrage the couple sparked with a video they posted in which they tried to apologize for writing glowing character letters ahead of their friend’s sentencing last week to 30 years to life after being convicted of two of three counts of rape. The verdict of the internet is that Kutcher and Kunis failed to show genuine remorse in their allegedly “lawyered” apology video, or authentic concern about “re-traumatizing” Masterson’s victims by calling him their “role model” and by appearing to minimize one key aspect of the women’s testimony — that their friend drugged them before attacking them.It was “incredibly insulting and hurtful,” one of Masterson’s victims said to a journalist. Another accuser, Chrissie Carnell Bixler, went further, going on the offensive and telling Kutcher on Instagram Story: “You...UC regents meeting to include discussion of Cal’s move into the ACC (which could be costly for UCLA)

The University of California regents will discuss Cal’s move into the Atlantic Coast Conference next week on UCLA’s campus. It’s an appropriate location given that the governing board is expected to consider whether to impose a subsidy on the Bruins — the so-called Berkeley tax, or Cal-imony.The agenda for the Sept. 21 meeting describes the session in this manner: “Discussion: UC Berkeley Atlantic Coast Conference Membership.”Because the session is closed to the public, the regents won’t vote on whether to eventually force UCLA to turn a portion of its Big Ten jackpot into an annual “contribution” to Cal’s athletic department. But sources believe it will be discussed in detail. The controversial issue first surfaced last summer, after UCLA announced it would enter the Big Ten in 2024 (along with USC) and leave its sister campus behind.Expecting the depleted Pac-12 to lose significant media revenue without the Los Angeles mark...He sent a selfie from a Colorado summit, and then disappeared

A hiker who was last seen in a selfie he took atop a Colorado peak in June was found dead by two people fishing on a remote stretch of river.Ian O’Brien, 28, from Page, Ariz., was reported missing after he failed to return from a solo hike while camping on June 24 near Durango, in Colorado’s southwest corner. The body was discovered Sept. 2, said the Montezuma County sheriff’s office. The cause of death was said to be accidental drowning. The day he disappeared, O’Brien left the Echo Basin campsite he was sharing with his girlfriend for a 7½-mile hike up Hesperus Mountain, a route he was reportedly familiar with. About 4½ hours later, around 6:30 p.m., he shared a photo from the 13,238-foot summit. When he hadn’t returned by 12:30 a.m., his girlfriend notified the sheriff’s office. After a week of extensive searching, the operation was put in “limited continuous mode,” meaning the official search-and-rescue crew wouldn’t be called o...Pigeon coop fire at Lafayette home contained

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A Missouri clinic will stop prescribing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors for the purpose of gender transition, citing a new state law that the clinic says “creates unsustainable liability” for health care workers.A statement released Monday by the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital said patients currently receiving care will be referred to other providers. The center will continue to provide education and mental health support for minors, as well as medical care for patients over the age of 18.“We are disheartened to have to take this step,” the statement read. “However, Missouri’s newly enacted law regarding transgender care has created a new legal claim for patients who received these medications as minors. This legal claim creates unsustainable liability for health-care professionals and makes it untenable for us to continue to provide comprehensive transgender care for minor patients without subjectin...Speaker McCarthy says he’ll direct House to open impeachment inquiry into President Biden over family business dealings
