DENVER (KDVR) -- It's been two decades since deputies found local business owner Steven Craig Mayo deceased with a gunshot wound.Dec. 19 marks the 23rd anniversary of Mayo's death and detectives still don't have an answer to who murdered him. Mayor, who owned and operated Metro Grease Company, was the victim of an apparent gunshot. DENVER (KDVR) -- Colorado has seen an increase in people running red lights, stop signs and other traffic control devices, according to a release by Colorado State Patrol.Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 10, 2023, CSP troopers issued 1,991 citations to people who ignored traffic control devices, 14.4% more than the 1,740 issued during the same period in 2022. “Intersections are inherently dangerous places. If we see you make a reckless choice, don’t expect a warning," CSP Chief Colonel Matthew C. Packard said in a release. New area code coming to Colorado in 2026 According to CSP, the peak days for citations were Monday and Tuesday, with Friday coming in third. An investigation is underway after a body was found in a commercial trash container in Southwest Miami-Dade, officials said. Deputies have a new clue in the case of a deadly shooting that shattered a quiet South Florida neighborhood.Surveillance video captured the sound of gun shots ringing into the night back in September, which were followed by even louder blasts before the shooter or shooters took off in a white 4-door Sedan.The incident happened in Wilton Manors. A 33-year-old man is behind bars, accused of drugging and raping an 11-year-old girl at Dolphin Mall.Police said David Rivero, a water salesman from Miami, was at the mall, located at 11401 NW 12th St. in Sweetwater, on Dec. 10 when he allegedly “gave her defendant a ‘marijuana gummy,’ took her into a family bathroom, pulled her pants down and took her virginity,” the arrest report stated. He appeared in court, Tuesday afternoon. “I believe it’s a first-degree felony, possibly a crime punishable by life in prison,” a judge said. Rivero was a stranger to the victim and had met her at the mall, officials said. Firefighters in Pembroke were able to contain and put out flames at a home on Station Street Tuesday.On the department’s Facebook page, the Pembroke Fire Department described how it was alerted to a structure fire Tuesday afternoon and, with assistance from Pembroke police and several neighboring fire departments, crews were able to respond and contain the blaze.As of 4 p.m., Pembroke FD said it was still investigating the cause of the fire. Emergency crews responded in Milford Tuesday after a pedestrian was hit by a car. The crash happened near Beaver Street and East Main Street. Witnesses said a man was trapped under a truck. Another car appeared to have rear-ended the truck. Jazzman Acker, who works nearby, said she heard a loud crash and now hopes everyone is OK. “I heard that they pulled him from underneath the truck and he was lifeless,” Acker said.
