(NEWS10) - Next week, Sept. 19-23, in National Voter Registration Week - an important time to ensure that community members are equipped to cast their votes in upcoming elections. Through the week, the League of Women Voters of Saratoga is celebrating National Voter Registration Week with a series of events around Saratoga and Washington counties. The group is specifically looking to get 16- and 17-year-olds pre-registered to vote, as well as registering any and all who need it. COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Innovo Kitchen owner and chef John LaPosta is opening up another restaurant. LaPosta told NEWS10 that he originally leased a 4,600-square-foot space on the side of the plaza with no retail frontage to build a large commercial kitchen for the Innovo Food Truck and Catering business. When a retail spot next to the commercial kitchen on the corner of the plaza opened up, the landlord approached LaPosta about the space."It was a no-brainer to open the wall and open another restaurant," said LaPosta. LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The 34-year-old man from Moreau accused of shooting a person in the Queensbury Walmart parking lot on November 27 was sentenced to twelve years in prison. Adrian Simental was also ordered to three years of post-release supervision and a 20-year order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. According to the indictment, an aggressive driving encounter resulted in a verbal dispute at the Walmart store on Route 9. Simental then fired a handgun into the torso of the victim. According to the police, the caller ID shows the call originates from the Bethlehem Police Department at (518) 439-9973. CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Wednesday, State Police arrested Dakota Smith, 28, of Malta. Smith, the owner of DAS Builders & Remodeling LLC., was charged with grand larceny in the third degree and scheme to defraud in the first degree. Investigations determined that Smith agreed to complete a home renovation project in November 2022. The victim paid Smith a deposit of more than $18,000, but Smith failed to begin the work or purchase the necessary materials for the project. The deposit was never returned to the victim.Smith surrendered himself to SP Clifton Park.
