Uxbridge captures third straight Div. 4 field hockey crown WORCESTER – Uxbridge head coach Kelly Rosborough’s sister was on the only Spartans field hockey team to ever make the Final Four up until 2021 – back in 1999.The tide has changed. With a 4-0 win over third-seeded Monomoy in the Div. 4 state final at WPI on Saturday, No. 1 Uxbridge (22-1) pulled off its third straight state title, joining Watertown and Walpole as the only programs in MIAA field hockey history to ever three-peat.Young star power once again was at the forefront, with sophomore Julianna Casucci and eighth-grader Ava Rosborough each finding the back of the cage twice against an otherwise strong Sharks (17-3-3) defensive effort. Monomoy answered with plenty of transitions into the offensive end, but the Uxbridge defense played tremendous to diffuse most threats.“Every championship has a special meaning,” Kelly Rosborough said. “We’ve just been fortunate to have this team and to have this crew. Each year they deliver, and it’s just as magical as the first time.”The Spartans...

Secondary tickets surge for F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, but a sellout appears unlikely LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sales on the secondary-ticket market were surging for Saturday night’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, but plenty of tickets were on sale on the Ticketmaster site for the Formula One race as of early in the afternoon.Race CEO Renee Wilm promised on the Nov. 3 earnings call by Formula One Group that “we will be sold out by the time of the event.” Barring an eleventh-hour surge, the race will fall short of that prediction. The first-year LVGP — beset by a number of on- and off-track issues that have tempered the enthusiasm of race fans, Las Vegas locals and even drivers — didn’t waste any time putting tickets on sale for next year. Beginning Saturday, fans can put down a deposit beginning at $250 for the race, which is Nov. 21-23, 2024.When tickets were originally put on sale for Saturday’s race about a year ago, the cheapest was $500. Nevada residents later were offered a limited number of tickets starting at $200.Even if there have been a number of missteps, ...

Bobby Ghosh: Arab states have use-or-lose leverage for a two-state solution That the meeting of Arab and Muslim nations in Riyadh last weekend was all talk and nothing more was surely a relief for President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and, arguably, for the wider world. The last thing that the global economy needs is a repeat of the oil embargo that the Arab states imposed in 1973, to punish the US and some of its allies for having supported Israel during the Yom Kippur War.An appeal by Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi to impose sanctions on Israel (and to arm Hamas) went unheeded. Rather than cutting off the flow of oil, the leaders from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Countries settled for letting off steam. They condemned Israel for the military assault on Gaza and demanded an immediate cease-fire.Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest producer, has signaled that it will not use its oil exports as leverage to achieve a cease-fire in Gaza. And the Arab states that have recently normalized relations with Israel —...
