The trial is tentatively scheduled to start May 1 after an appeals court declined to reinstate a plea deal that would have allowed the operator of the limo company involved in the crash to avoid prison time. Defense attorneys are asking to delay the trial so the court can decide whether to give them a chance to ask again for the plea deal to be reinstated.Hussain is accused of 20 counts of criminally negligent homicide for not properly maintaining the Ford Excursion limousine. The limo, according to court documents, suffered from “catastrophic brake failure” on October 6, 2018. Twenty people died as a result of the crash.

Homeless Florida man charged with human trafficking, other crimes in Ventura County pleads not guilty A homeless man from Florida who has been accused of six felony charges in Ventura County, including human trafficking, pled not guilty at his arraignment on Thursday.According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, 25-year-old Arayveion Edwards was pulled over regarding an alleged stolen vehicle on Tuesday.  When officers approached the vehicle and contacted Edwards and his female passenger, she “pleaded with the officers for help."  Infant rescued from suspected human trafficker in Southern California “Edwards is accused of bringing the victim from Florida to California and forcing the victim to engage in commercial sex work by using violence and psychological coercion,” the DA’s Office said in a statement.  The Florida transient is officially charged with felony human trafficking, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm and magazines, pimping and other charges. He is being held in the Ventura County Jail on $250,000 bail.
