TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — As we near the end of an active hurricane season, a new system in the Caribbean Sea could become the next tropical depression.The National Hurricane Center said the system could form toward the end of the week as it moves westward over the central and southwestern Caribbean Sea. It has a 60 percent chance of development over the next seven days. AUSTIN (KXAN)— Setting out to provide a holistic approach to helping survivors of violence heal, the Harvest Trauma Recovery Center is officially open in Austin. It's the first center of its kind in Texas, according to the City of Austin and the African American Youth Harvest Foundation (AAYHF). This center was created in partnership between the two entities. "The Harvest Trauma Recovery Center will stand as a sanctuary for survivors of violence in Austin-Travis County, where they will not only receive top quality mental health care but a full array of wraparound support including basic needs, case management, substance abuse intervention, workforce assistance and a host of social and educational programs to elevate the whole family,” AAYHF’s CEO Michael Lofton said in a press release. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Department of Public Safety is asking for the public's help finding a car that was involved in a "racing incident" that resulted in a fatal crash in northwest Austin last month, according to a release. DPS is looking for a BMW passenger car, pictured below. According to DPS, the BMW and a Tesla were racing and driving recklessly, resulting in the Tesla crashing into another vehicle near the intersection of West Parmer Lane and McNeil Drive around 3:37 p.m. on Oct. 22. A 16-year-old accused of having a gun at Roseville Area High School last week tried to hand the weapon over to another student to hold it when he found out school officials were going to search him, according to charges.School officials told a Roseville police officer about 1 p.m. Oct. 24 they’d be searching two students they believed may have guns. They searched a 17-year-old, who is the brother of the younger teen, and found a bullet in his backpack, according to a juvenile petition filed Tuesday by the Ramsey County attorney’s office.The officer went to the area where the 16-year-old was and noted he “was agitated and walking around the room holding a long metal pipe,” said a separate juvenile petition filed by prosecutors last week. The officer took the pipe, called for backup and handcuffed the 16-year-old.In the 16-year-old’s backpack, the officer found a handgun loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds, according to the petition. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (NEWS10) -- A North Adams man was sentenced for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. James Macko, 23, will serve 14 years in prison. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Macko admitted that between November 16, 2022, and December 9, 2022, he texted an undercover cop posing as an 11-year-old trying to coerce the assumed child into sexual contact with him. The DOJ says Macko planned to meet the assumed child in a state park in Western Massachusetts, where he intended to perform sexual acts on the child in a cave.On December 9, 2022, Macko left his North Adams home to meet the assumed child and was arrested shortly after.
