Coach Jared Bednar did not have an update on Lehkonen after the game but said his concern level is high anytime a player goes to the hospital. There were no updates on Lehkonen’s condition as of Friday afternoon, but a team spokesman did say Thursday night that he was alert, responsive and had full movement after skating off the ice with some assistance.“He’s obviously one of the toughest guys on our team. Broncos DC Vance Joseph on defensive improvement, “It’s happening. It’s not totally done yet”

Broncos DC Vance Joseph on defensive improvement, “It’s happening. It’s not totally done yet” The numbers at this point are well-established, but they jump off the page nonetheless. In Denver’s first four games, opponents scored an average of 40 points per game. The historic blowout in Miami tilted those numbers, but even without that 70-point blight, still the Broncos ranked near the bottom of the NFL.Over the team’s past three games — two of them against vaunted Kansas City — the performance has swung dramatically. Vance Joseph’s group has allowed just 15 points per game. A more manageable 331 yards per game allowed. The Chiefs and Packers scored just three red zone touchdowns in 11 trips, vaulting the Broncos to No. 11 in the NFL for the season at 50% touchdowns allowed.Players have the ultimate say, of course, but they give ample credit to Joseph’s steady demeanor in helping engineer the turnaround.“One thing about VJ, he’s always positive no matter what goes on,” cornerback Pat Surtain II said. “He’s very confident in us and in this scheme. We just rally behind him, hone...

Consistency on offensive line paying off for Colorado State FORT COLLINS — Last season, every week was like a new puzzle for the Colorado State offensive line.Because of injuries and players departing the program, CSU head coach Jay Norvell and his staff had to find new pieces just about every week. That hasn’t been the case this season. In the Rams’ nine games, they have had the same five players on the field at the start of each contest. The reversal of fortune has been one of many positives for CSU this year as the Rams make a final push to get to a bowl game in Norvell’s second season. After allowing the most sacks per game in the country last season, having a consistent offensive line has paid dividends as the Rams are the top team in the nation in their improvement in that category. They went from allowing just under five sacks per game last season to just 1.5 this season.Much can be credited to the Rams going out and utilizing the transfer portal to provide depth at that position, although it hasn’t been needed much this season.“I’...
