Albany man struck by car and killed, driver flees scene

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man died after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a truck stop in Plattsburgh. Wayne Haupt, 53, was taken to the University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) where he was later pronounced dead. Police attempted to pull the suspected car over, but the driver fled. Eventually, the car was stopped in the town of Long Lake and the driver was identified as Thomas Lance, 38, of Albany. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A man accused of stealing property from multiple kiosks at the Colonie Center Mall was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison. Pashton Rifiqie, 28, of Schenectady, who pleaded guilty to criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree, was also ordered to pay full restitution. He also stole over $6,000 of property from the Banter by Piercing Pagoda Kiosk. Rifiqie is also accused of having over $50,000 worth of stolen property on February 16, 2023. CREVE COEUR, Mo. – A man who was yelling at officers and threatening them with a bat during a welfare check is now facing charges of resisting arrest and using offensive language in public. Omar Carrera, 42, has been charged with assault and resisting arrest. The court has set his bond at $75,000, cash-only. On September 1, 2023, they engaged in an argument that turned physical. The fight was interrupted twice before Ervin retrieved a knife from the kitchen and chased the victim throughout the house with it. During the chase, Ervin stabbed the victim in the hip with the knife. When the police arrived, they discovered a knife in the kitchen that was wet from being washed. A woman found dead in rural Arapahoe County in August has been identified, and her death has been classified as a homicide.The body of Grabriela Ibanez, 44, identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner Sept. 6, was found Aug. 23 by Arapahoe County deputies in a roadside field off Colfax Avenue between Bennett and Strasburg.#ALERT Multiple deputies are on scene of an active death investigation between Bennett and Strasburg. Motorcycle Vs. Tree Accident near Valentine Avenue Left 58-Year-Old Motorcyclist DeadFRESNO COUNTY, CA (September 7, 2023) – Saturday night, a motorcycle vs. tree accident left Robert McGhee dead.The incident occurred on September 2nd, at around 6:50 p.m., near the intersection of Kearney Boulevard and Valentine Avenue.According to reports, McGhee was riding his motorcycle along Kearney Boulevard when he lost control and veered off the road. Subsequently, his vehicle crashed into a palm tree.
