The Gophers football program added Ohio transfer running back Sieh Bangura on Tuesday.“All in …” Bangura said on X in conjunction with a video from a recent visit to Minnesota.Bangura, who is listed at 6-foot and 200 pounds, rushed for 1,982 yards and 22 touchdowns across three seasons at the Mid-American Conference school.The Bowie, Md., native was named the MAC’s freshman of the year in 2022 after rushing for a team-leading 1,078 yards on 222 carries. He had 811 yards on 178 carries a season ago.The Gophers have been looking for depth at tailback after two players — Zach Evans and Marquese Williams — left via the transfer portal in November.In the meantime, Indiana transfer running back Trent Howland committed to Minnesota on Dec. 10, but then decided to stay with the Hoosiers on Sunday.Minnesota has had seven scholarship players exit the portal. The former director of technology for South St. Paul schools was given a seven-year sentence after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography at his Hudson, Wis., home.Paul Michael Brashear, 63, entered the plea Friday in St. Croix County District Court to one count of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by four years of probation. The number of Minnesota high school football players signing with the Gophers has increased over the past three years.After averaging 3.6 signees from 2017-21, head coach P.J. TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Mechanicville woman was arrested for reportedly purchasing a vehicle off Facebook Marketplace with fake currency in July. Jennifer M. Landry, 39, was taken into custody by Colonie Police on December 9 and handed over to State Police. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! The transaction took place on July 29. The victim, a Lake Luzerne resident, told police they realized the currency was fake after Landry departed with the vehicle. Investigations determined that Landry had paid with fraudulent $100 bills. The vehicle was recovered on August 13 with assistance from the South Burlington Police Department in Vermont. Landry also reportedly tried to purchase a vehicle on July 24 in Troy. State Police say she presented the victim with fake currency. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Baton Rouge man faces up to five years in prison for shipping firearms from Louisiana to the Capital Region. Rodell Patterson, 51, pleaded guilty to engaging in the firearms business without a license on Tuesday. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Patterson admitted he shipped ten firearms in eight packages and that he knew the transfers were unlawful. Two firearms were recovered at an apartment in Troy. The recipient was a man on parole. A shooting on the 10 Freeway left two motorists in the hospital and prompted an hourslong closure of a portion of the freeway near the 710 Interchange in East Los Angeles Tuesday morning.A caller reported the shooting on the eastbound side of the freeway near Soto Street shortly before 5 a.m., a CHP spokesperson confirmed. Arriving officers found two victims had been struck by gunfire, CHP Officer Lizarraga said.
