DENVER (KDVR) -- Despite this season being the worst in history for the Colorado Rockies, it was still a win for one rookie on the team.Centerfielder Brenton Doyle was named the winner of the 2023 National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award on Sunday. For the first time in franchise history, the Chicago Cubs have three players named Gold Glove defensive award winners in a season.Second baseman Nico Hoerner won his first National League Gold Glove award Sunday night while shortstop Dansby Swanson and left fielder Ian Happ both won the second of their career coming in back-to-back years.He is the fourth Cubs shortstop to win the award after Javier Báez (2020), Don Kessinger (1969 and 1970) and Ernie Banks (1960).Hoerner, a finalist in 2020, is the fourth Cubs second baseman to win the award, joining Darwin Barney (2012), Ryne Sandberg (nine times, last in 1991), Glenn Beckert (1968) and Ken Hubbs (1962). 11-year-old shot while inside home on South Side

CHICAGO — A little girl is in critical condition after she was shot on the city’s South Side on Sunday afternoon, police say.According to Chicago police, the 11-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to her head after someone fired shots into her home from outside.Police say the shooting happened just before 4 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 68th Place in Englewood. 16-year-old boy, 2 others injured after shooting in Gage Park The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition following the shooting. Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting, but police say two people have been taken in for questioning and a firearm was recovered at the scene.  Authorities held a press conference on Sunday evening offering updates on the shooting. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Sergeant Ben Mewis with the Austin Police Department is getting ready to run from Goliad, to Gonzales and back to the Capitol in support of Central Texas Pig Rescue.This is now his third running adventure he's taken on as a way to connect with the community. "It's just my hobby, but it's helping out organizations too," he said. "So I love the fact that I can do something I enjoy doing and have an adventure with it, and at the same time help out an organization that needs the assistance too."He got connected with the organization a few years ago when he responded to a 911 call for a report of a screaming child, but when he got there, he found a pig named Carlton. "But when we got there, it was Carlton, who was much smaller at the time, he was a little piglet," he said. Now, Carlton is pivotal to Mewis' next running endeavor, which he'll embark on next week.
