A group of fishermen got a killer surprise off the coast of Key Largo last weekend.The group stumbled upon a whole pod of about seven killer whales.Some of the fishermen even took a dive in the water to catch a closer look at the orcas circling the boat.They believe the pod had just killed something and were going in to eat.The fishermen describe the experience as quote “intimidating and humbling.”

(CNN) — Two meteor showers, the Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids, are both expected to peak during the evenings of July 30 and 31.They will have to compete with a bright moon that’s 95% full, but the Alpha Capricornids may still produce some scintillating fireballs that could outshine the moon.The Delta Aquariids, also called the Southern Delta Aquariids, will favor skywatchers in the Southern Hemisphere, although they will still be visible in the Northern Hemisphere (especially across the southern US) but lower on the horizon, according to EarthSky.The best time to see the Delta Aquariids is around 2 a.m. in the regions where the shower is visible, but the full moon may make these faint meteors more difficult to see. Boston Healthcare for the Homeless teams were out in the city over the last few days providing care to individuals who were out in the extreme heat.Dr, Rebecca Lee of the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program said staffers aim to provide care to those who are outside year-round and choose not to participate in the shelter program or go to a cooling center for a variety of reasons.“In Boston that means some pretty extreme temperatures,” she said.The street team is helping individuals in the city who could be dealing with dehydration and other heat-related illness. People looking to help out can donate water or a gift card to the program.

SAN DIEGO -- Two horses competing at the Del Mar Racetrack have been euthanized within the first week of the 2023 season -- both after sustaining injuries during workout sessions.The first fatality occurred on Friday, a spokesperson for the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club confirmed. (AP) — With the summer heat wave in full swing in Southern California, a backyard pool is a tempting place to take a dip.Even for a bear.Police in the city of Burbank responded to a report of a bear sighting in a residential neighborhood and found the animal sitting in a Jacuzzi behind one of the homes.After a short dip, the bear climbed over a wall and headed to a tree behind the home, police said in a statement Friday.Police released a video of the animal in the neighborhood, which is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of Los Angeles and near the Verdugo Mountains.The Burbank police have issued warnings for residents to avoid bears and to keep all garbage and food locked up to discourage bears from coming to their residences.The Associated Press
